August-2009-Car-Lease-Winner
Yawn. Ho-hum. It seems so predictable. Are there any surprise Car Leases out there? The car leasing winner is nearly always Honda or Subaru for the best Monthly Car Lease Deal. This month, the Subaru Legacy wins for the 3rd time on pretty much the same lease they offered last winter and spring: $1999.00 down, $199.00 per month for 36 months on a $23,000 car gives them the lowest PRR Rating of 1.08%. Honorable mention goes to the new, 2010 Mazda 3 i-Sport, which gives you a no-money down lease payment for $229.00 for 42 months. The Mazda 3 doesn't come near the top in our PRR Lease Ratings ratio, but that's partly because they are selling for a very reasonable MSRP of $17,575.00. The lower retail price, lowers the perceived value somewhat on the Car Lease Payment Ratio (PRR).

A couple of observations about 2009 and 2010 models: Generally, a new model year leases well only when the design hasn't changed. This is because there is no track record on residual or resale values of brand new re-designed cars, thus making it difficult to set aggressive lease pricing. The Mazda-3 for instance, has undergone a body change and redesign, so the $229.00 monthly lease payment with nothing down is a pretty sweet deal for getting into a brand-new model year. Older model years, on the other hand, should have the very best lease values when the new year comes out. Look at the 2010 models on cars that haven't changed 2-3 years.
The government's, CARS (Car Allowance Rebate System) has influenced some of the special offers on cars when trade-ins are involved, but we don't care about that here. Suffice it to say, a good deal is a good deal.
