i would like to complain about your presto cerculator costin so much but not lasting over 2 years . either the cord goes bad or the heating element goes bad. that is to much to pay and get up morning and not have a cup of coffee. ann

Rikki,

Thank you so much for the useful commentary on the Presto Coffee Percolator. My Westbend percolator occasionally brewed hot water, so if your Farberware did, then they ALL do it. Thanks for the tip about not filling the water too full. That could certainly be the problem with the Presto Percolator, though it has only happened 3 times in 6 months. I know other people who tried Farberware, and preferred the Presto. They are cheaper, too!

The Farberware pot gives hot water if you get the water level even a hair over the 12 cup mark. I had a Presto pot for 12 years and never had one pot of hot water. Unfortunately, when the cord died I couldn't find a replacement cord or a Presto retailer anywhere near me. So I settled for the Farberware. I have never been as happy with Farberware as I was with the Presto. Now the Farberware pot base has cracked and it has to be replaced after only 2 years. Does this bother me? No! I am celebrating it's demise and shopping online for a new Presto.
