Best Bottled Water

It may seem ridiculous to spend your money on something that comes free out of your home's tap, but not all water is created equal. Being raised in the Denver area, I feel very privileged about the water in my home. The water here is usually cold and almost always fresh-tasting and pure of any fishy tastes, sand and sediment. Yet, even thought I find the water coming from my faucet to be excellent most of the time, I still appreciate the convenience of bottled water. If you have tried a variety of Bottled Water Brands, you quickly learned that they can vary greatly in taste and price. Read the rest of this entry

Best Restaurants in Denver

Best Restaurants in Denver

Denver's Best Dining

Looking for the Best Restaurants in Denver?

What are the Best Restaurants in Denver? While there are some great places to go out to dinner, things in Denver have changed immensely in the last 20-30 years. The question is, have they changed for better or worse? I guess it depends on who you ask and how old fashioned they are. One thing is certain; the population of chain restaurants greatly outnumber the private eateries in Denver Metro these days. This is partly because the city has grown so fast in the last 20 years. However, I believe it is also due in part to the changing trends and fast pace business climate that has made it extremely difficult for private retail establishments to compete. This is not only true of our restaurants, but shopping and retail establishments as a whole. Chain Restaurants like Bennigans, Chilis, Macaroni Grill, Carrabas, Black-Eyed Pea and Olive Garden are the equivalent of Best Buy, Walmart and Amazon taking over the mom and pop stores.  Even pizza joints like,  Anthony's New York Style Pizza.  are chains. The really great privately owned restaurants in the Denver area seem to be a part of the diminishing pattern of privately owned eating establishments in today's metro areas. Don't get me wrong; there are some excellent places to go out to breakfast, lunch or dinner in the city of Denver and its surrounding suburbs, but the privately owned places seem like such a small percentage of the best restaurants in Denver population today.  While thinking about this the other day, I asked myself the question: Is this perception or reality? What are the Best Restaurants in Denver, well...

Concrete Crack Repair

Concrete Crack Repair

Concrete Crack Repair

Looking for Concrete Crack Repair Tips? A few cracks in a driveway or patio are nothing to worry about.  However, a cement driveway that begins to crumble from erosion is probably going to cause more problems than is worth the hassle of trying to repair yourself. I speak from experience. My own driveway concrete crack repair job failed for two reasons:

  1. The Driveway was improperly surfaced with a very thin layer of cement that was quickly destroyed by salt and shoveling in the winter
  2. I did not properly prepare the concrete before I stained it with Behr Concrete Paint

Using DAP Patch for Concrete Crack Repair

I was quite happy with the repair job I did two years ago with DAP concrete Patch, but only for a short while. The problem was that the color of the patch didn't match the color of the cement and I ended up with a very spotted driveway. The Behr Cement Stain would have helped, but I failed to use a color that matched and I failed to properly prepare the surface as described by Behr.

Bil Jac Dog Food Review

Bil Jac Dog Food

Bil Jac Dog Food Review

"You don't know jack about Dog Food unless you've tried Bil Jac Dog Food." Or so, this is what satisfied Bil-Jac-Dog-Food-buying-dog-owners have told me. When I did my Dog Food Reviews and Comparisons over a year ago, I completely over looked this brand of dog food which a great number of dog owners seem to love. A few, rather disgruntled dog owners let me know that any Dog Food Ratings that didn't include Bil Jac Dog Food was not worth the cheap LCD computer screen it was typed on. For some reason, Bil Jac Dog Food was not on my list of premium brand dog foods. My research brought me to brands like Evangers, Innova, By-Nature and Wellness, but by Jove, there was no Bil Jac Dog Food in the mix! When I looked online for premium brands of dog food, the name didn't come up at all. Yet, if you do a search for well-liked, appreciated brands of dog food, Bil Jac is at the very top. Perhaps, the other reason Bil Jac Dog Food does not come up too often is because it's hard to find. I decided it would be well worth my time to provide some information on the product and where it can be bought at prices that are quite reasonable. But first of all, what is it that people (or dogs) like so much about Bil Jac Dog Food? Read the rest of this entry

Paraben Free Cosmetics

Paraben Free Cosmetics

Paraben Free Cosmetics

Dermud Facial Cleanse

Paraben Free Cosmetics are the latest health scare fad, or are they? Growing up as a kid in the 1970's, I learned that nearly everything we used or consumed might cause cancer. Whether it was cigarette smoke, imitation sweeteners, high-fat diets or the music we listened to; chances are, someone did a study which proved it was linked in someway to cancer.  Now, it's pareben free cosmetics. When my wife became a Mary Kay consultant, potential prospects began asking her whether or not their cosmetic products contained Parabens. Paraben is a chemical preservative used in cosmetics like makeup and lotion to keep them from drying out. Studies have shown that some women with Breast Cancer had very small amounts of Paraben in their system. While this might sound scary, it is important to remember that a relationship doesn't equal a cause. Also, it is important to remember that the Parabens could also come from food. Secondly, the amounts of Paraben in most cosmetics are a tiny fraction of what is considered safe by the FDA. Studies show that most cosmetic products consist of only .03 to .3 % Parabens. In 1984, the FDA did a study on the three types of Parabens: Butylparaben, Propylparaben and Methylparaben and determined that anything under 25% is safe to use. While, I'm not a guy who takes the federal government recommendations as the bible truth, I think there is quite a bit of margin for error between .3% and 25%. Paraben is not only included in makeup, but other products such as over-the-counter cosmetics, shaving creams, lotions and food. None of these products sold at our stores here in America include anything close to the 25 percent Parabens considered safe by the FDA to prevent Paraben Cancer. At the same time, I don't blame people who want to live and consume in a way that is as natural and free of any toxic chemicals as possible. I can especially appreciate this lifestyle if you or someone else has ever fought, won or lost a battle with cancer. For more information or risks of paraben cancer, you can read the FAQ at the Paraben Free Skincare Resource Center See below for sales on Paraben Free Cosmetics. Read the rest of this entry
