Using the Microsoft Laser Mouse 5000 on my desk in place of my old Microsoft Optical for the first time was like stepping out of a cheesy 1991 Chevy Lumina and into a leather-trimmed 2009 BMW 330xi. The Laser Mouse 5000 is Microsoft's middle-of-the-road laser mouse. It costs around $35-$40.
